Rune Rummy
Arrange tiles into sets and runs — Rummikub-style tile rummy
About This Game
Rune Rummy is a tile-based rummy game inspired by Rummikub. Players take turns placing tiles from their rack onto the table in valid groups (three or four tiles of the same number in different colors) or runs (three or more consecutive numbers in the same color). The twist is that you can rearrange tiles already on the table to form new combinations, as long as all groups remain valid when your turn ends.
The rearranging mechanic is what elevates Rune Rummy from a simple matching game to a genuine puzzle. Often the key to playing a tile isn't having a ready-made group, but finding a creative way to split, extend, and recombine existing table arrangements to accommodate your new tile.
How to Play
- Each player starts with 14 tiles on their rack
- Play tiles to the table in valid groups (same number, different colors) or runs (consecutive, same color)
- Your first play must total at least 30 points
- On subsequent turns, you can rearrange table tiles to form new valid combinations
- All groups on the table must be valid when you end your turn
- If you can't play, draw a tile. First to empty their rack wins
