About This Game
Rune Tiles is a Mahjong Solitaire game themed with ancient rune symbols. Tiles are stacked in a layered formation, and you clear them by matching identical free pairs. A tile is free when no other tile is on top of it and at least one side (left or right) is open. The goal is to clear the entire board by carefully selecting which pairs to remove and in which order.
The game features multiple board layouts with varying difficulty. Simple layouts are wide and flat with few layers, while complex layouts stack tiles deep, creating intricate dependencies. The visual design uses distinct rune symbols on each tile, making pattern recognition satisfying and clear even on smaller screens.
How to Play
- Click a free tile to select it, then click its matching partner to remove the pair
- A tile is free when nothing is stacked on it and at least one side is open
- Remove all tiles from the board to win
- If no more moves are available, the game ends
- Use the hint button if you're stuck finding a valid pair
- Shuffle remaining tiles if you reach a dead end

Focus on removing tiles from the highest layers first to open up tiles below
Don't just grab the first pair you see — consider which removal opens the most tiles
Watch for tiles with all four copies in play — removing one pair locks you into removing the other
