About This Game

Forge War is a card game based on classic War. Each round, you and the AI flip one card each — the higher card wins both. When cards tie, it's war: three cards go face-down, then a fourth face-up card settles the whole pile. Capture all 52 cards to win.

War is a pure chance game. There's no strategy to figure out. But this version adds speed controls and stat tracking to keep things lively. Watch the card count, follow the momentum, and enjoy the tension when a big war puts a huge pile of cards on the line. It's a zero-thinking relaxation game — good for unwinding.

History & Background

War is one of the oldest and simplest card games around. No one invented it. Children across Europe and the Americas have played it for centuries under names like Battle, Bataille, and Kriegspiel — that last one meaning "war game" in German.

Because the game has no decisions at all, it's a favorite in probability theory classes. Every game's outcome is set by the shuffle. A typical game runs about 250 turns. Computer simulations show that some shuffles produce games that mathematically never end.

How to Play

  1. The deck is split evenly between you and the AI — 26 cards each
  2. Both players flip their top card simultaneously
  3. The higher card wins both cards
  4. On a tie, each player deals 3 face-down cards, then 1 face-up — highest wins all
  5. Win by collecting all 52 cards
  6. If a player runs out during war, they lose

Tips & Strategy

This is a chance game — just sit back and enjoy it
Use the speed controls to move through slow stretches
Double wars — wars that start another war — are rare but exciting when they hit
Track the card count to see if the momentum is on your side

Tips for the Real-World Game

Split a 52-card deck evenly: 26 cards each, face-down in stacks.
Both players flip the top card at the same time. The higher card takes both. Aces are high.
On a tie: "War." Each player lays three cards face-down, then one face-up. The higher face-up card wins all 10. Tie again? Repeat.
If you can't put up a full war — fewer than 4 cards left — play what you have. Lose the war and you're done.
There's no skill in this game, which makes it great for teaching small kids to identify card rank. But most adults find it tedious after a hand or two.
