About This Game
Hearts is a four-player trick-taking card game where the goal is to avoid taking heart cards and especially the Queen of Spades. Each heart card taken scores one penalty point, and the Queen of Spades scores a devastating 13. At the end of each hand, points are tallied, and the player with the lowest score when someone crosses 100 points wins.
The twist is the "shoot the moon" option: if one player manages to take all 13 hearts and the Queen of Spades in a single hand, every other player gets 26 penalty points instead. It's a high-risk, high-reward strategy that can completely flip the game. Before each hand, you pass three cards to another player, adding a layer of strategy to hand management.
How to Play
- Each player is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck
- Before play, pass three cards to another player (direction rotates each hand)
- The player with the 2 of clubs leads the first trick
- Follow suit if you can — play any card if you can't
- Highest card of the led suit wins the trick
- Hearts can't be led until they've been played on another trick ('broken')
