About This Game

Last Stand is a top-down wave survival game. You defend a fixed arena against four types of undead. Shamblers are the cannon fodder. They're slow at 0.6 units per frame, have 1 HP, and are worth 10 points each. Runners move at 1.8 units per frame and pay 20 points. Brutes absorb hits with 3 HP, shuffle at 0.35 units, and reward 50 kills. From Wave 8, Brutes have 4 HP. Dashers are the real danger. They move at a fixed 3.5 units and spawn from the left and right edges from Wave 2. They ignore barricades and pay 30 points.

Wave size grows fast. Wave N spawns 5 plus 3 times N plus a little extra. By Wave 10, you're handling over 65 zombies at once. Between kills, four drop types appear. Spike Barricades block enemies for a few hits. Rapid Fire halves your 180ms shot cooldown for 6 seconds. Health Packs restore one life, up to a cap of 5. Nukes instantly wipe every enemy on screen. You start with 3 lives and earn bonus points for each wave you clear.

Rounds rarely last more than 15 minutes even for strong players. The wave-completion bonus is worth protecting your lives for. The leaderboard tracks your total score from both kills and wave bonuses.

History & Background

Wave-based zombie defense grew popular in the late 2000s. Left 4 Dead's Survival mode (2009) and Call of Duty's Nazi Zombies (2008) brought it to mainstream audiences. Smaller browser games like Con Artist Games' original Last Stand series (2007) stripped it down to one player holding a barricade against growing undead crowds.

The core tension is the same in all of them. You can outgun the zombies or outrun them, but not both forever. Last Stand builds on that tradition. It adds four enemy types with different behaviors, so each wave feels different rather than just bigger. Dashers spawning from the side edges starting at Wave 2 is a direct nod to the flanking mechanics that made the original zombie wave games feel threatening instead of repetitive.

How to Play

  1. Move with WASD or arrow keys to navigate the arena
  2. Aim with the mouse and click to shoot
  3. Survive each wave of zombies to advance
  4. Pick up weapon drops and power-ups from fallen enemies
  5. Choose upgrades between waves to build your loadout
  6. Survive as long as possible and climb the leaderboard

Tips & Strategy

Shamblers fill the spawn count, but Dashers kill runs. Always scan the left and right edges for incoming Dashers.
Barricades have 5 HP and deal 1 damage to any zombie that hits them. Stack two in a choke point to buy time on dense waves.
Brutes take 3 hits, or 4 from Wave 8. Don't waste Nukes on waves full of Shamblers. Save them for Brute-heavy rounds.
Rapid Fire halves your cooldown from 180ms to 90ms. That doubles your damage output for 6 full seconds. It clears a Brute cluster fast.
The wave-completion bonus is +50 times the wave number. Protecting your last life pays more as waves climb.
Runners spawn as up to 25% of the wave from Wave 3. They reach you before your barricades engage, so keep moving.
Health Packs add a life up to a cap of 5. If you're already at 5, let the pack sit and grab it after taking damage.
Kiting in a wide oval keeps Shamblers bunched behind you. That lets you pick off Runners and Dashers at your flanks.
