About This Game

Zombie Rampage is a survivor-IO style top-down shooter hosted at night.echoforge.games. It's built on the One More Night engine. You drop into a large arena as waves of undead come from every direction. Unlike fixed wave-defense games, the map is open. Weapons and supply caches are scattered across the environment. Finding them is just as important as fighting.

The game has multiple weapon types. Shotguns hit hard at close range and clear clusters. Rifles pick off threats before they reach you. Explosives remove whole groups but need careful positioning so you don't catch yourself in the blast. Weapons wear down over time, so you can't hold onto a favorite gun forever. When a weapon breaks, you need to find a replacement. That keeps every run feeling different.

A day-night cycle controls how enemies act. Zombies are slower and easier to read during the day. After dark, they speed up and get more aggressive. Managing resources during daylight while preparing for nightfall gives each run two phases. Build your position during the day, then hold it at night. High scores track on the arcade leaderboard. Both kill count and survival time matter.

History & Background

Zombie Rampage draws from the survivor-IO format. Vampire Survivors (2022) brought that style to modern audiences. One character in a large arena, auto-attacking endless escalating hordes, with upgrade choices between rounds. The format spread fast and spawned dozens of games.

Before that, zombie wave shooters were already well-developed in the browser era. SAS: Zombie Assault (2009) put a top-down shooter in an open map with scavengeable weapons and multiple zombie types. That's closer to Zombie Rampage's structure than pure survival-horde style. The day-night cycle pressure mechanic goes back even further, to real-time strategy games that used daylight as a planning window and nightfall as the threat trigger. Zombie Rampage applies that rhythm at the shooter scale.

How to Play

  1. Move through the arena and scavenge weapons from the environment
  2. Fight off waves of zombies using whatever weapons you find
  3. Manage your ammo carefully — spraying wastes resources
  4. Watch the day-night cycle — prepare defenses before nightfall
  5. Survive as many waves as possible to set high scores

Tips & Strategy

Shotguns work best in the first few minutes when enemy density is low enough to line up cluster shots without getting surrounded.
Watch weapon durability. A rifle that breaks mid-night wave leaves you exposed. Always find a backup before dark.
Circle wide around zombie clusters instead of cutting through them. The open arena gives you room that enclosed games don't.
During the day, focus on moving toward weapon caches over killing. Gear matters more than score at that stage.
Night waves make zombies much faster. If you can't find explosives before dark, fall back to a narrow corridor where shotgun spread covers the approach.
Melee backup isn't optional. When a main weapon breaks, you need something in hand right away. Melee has no ammo cost.
Explosive splash hits you too. Stay back and throw at clusters that are still several steps away.
High scores reward survival time as well as kills. A careful scavenging run often outscores an aggressive one that ends early.
